Last updated 15 August 2026. This covers the Polaris website and the Polaris desktop app.
Who we are
Polaris is a product of Perfect Polys Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 11475206), registered office 1 Pipers Close, Hove, East Sussex, BN3 8FG, United Kingdom. Perfect Polys Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here.
For anything in this policy, email Polaris@PerfectPolys.com.
What the app does not send us
This matters more than the list below, so it goes first. Polaris runs on your machine and drives your editor locally. Your project files, assets, levels, materials and source code stay on your machine. We never receive them, and neither does any AI provider.
When you use a feature that calls a language model, what leaves your machine is the text of your request and the results the local tools produced — for example a list of light names and intensity values that an audit found. Where you attach an image yourself, such as a screenshot of a performance overlay or a concept image for a blockout, that image is sent too, because the feature cannot work otherwise.
What we collect
Account data
Your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google. This is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. We store your email address and an internal account identifier in our own database.
Billing data
Your subscription tier, its status and billing period, and a customer reference from Stripe. Card numbers are entered on Stripe's own pages and never reach our servers. We cannot see them.
Usage data
For each request that calls a language model we record the account it belongs to, the time, and the cost of the call. This is how your credit allowance is measured. We do not store the content of your prompts or the results returned.
Device pairing
When you pair the desktop app with your account we store a label for the device and hashed forms of the pairing code and access token. The tokens themselves are not stored.
Things you send us deliberately
Support messages, feature requests submitted from inside the app, and priority votes. Support messages include the name and email address you type into the form.
Website analytics
We use Vercel Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without building a profile of you across sites.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Account, billing, usage and device data are processed to perform our contract with you — without them there is no account, no subscription and no way to meter usage. Support messages, feature requests and analytics are processed under our legitimate interest in running and improving the product. Invoice records are kept to meet our legal obligations under UK tax law.
Who processes it for us
- Clerk — authentication and account management.
- Stripe — payments, subscriptions and invoices.
- Neon — our database, hosted in London.
- Vercel — website and API hosting, and analytics.
- Anthropic — the language model behind the AI features.
- Google — only if you choose to sign in with a Google account.
Some of these are based outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred abroad it is protected by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or Standard Contractual Clauses, depending on the provider.
How long we keep it
Account, usage and device records are kept for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and they are deleted with it, including your subscription records, credit balance and paired devices. Any active subscription is cancelled at the same time.
Feature requests and votes survive account deletion, but the link to you is removed, so what remains cannot be traced back to you. Invoices held by Stripe are kept for six years, as UK tax law requires.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to processing carried out under legitimate interest, and ask for your data in a portable format.
The quickest route to deletion is to delete your account from your account page — that erases your records automatically. For anything else, email Polaris@PerfectPolys.com and we will respond within one month.
If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
Cookies
We use cookies set by Clerk to keep you signed in. Without them you could not stay authenticated, so there is no way to turn them off and still use an account. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Children
Polaris is a professional tool and is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will email account holders rather than rely on you noticing.
